Robert H. Mounce was born in 1922 and grew up as the son of a college professor in Minot, North Dakota. His terminal degree in higher education was the Ph.D. in Biblical Criticism from the University of Aberdeen in Scotland. During the next eight years he was chairman of the Department of Biblical Studies at Bethel College, St. Paul, Minnesota. At the same time, he launched his career as an author.
